TalentEgg's Career Incubator hits 200 articles

The Incubator started out as an experiment: We had been experiencing a lot of demand from students and recent grads for career advice, and decided that if it TalentEgg was going to get into the career advice business, it would be in true TalentEgg style.

So we launched a little site called The Incubator– an online, social Career magazine for students and recent grads which would feature relate-able career advice written about the personal experiences of our writers.

One month after launch, we hired on long-time TalentEgg partner, Cassandra, as our full time editor. Her mandate was to ensure that the Incubator grew into a living, breathing career resource for students, with fresh content 2x daily and an active community of readers, contributors and participants.

Four months later, The Incubator has not only attracted over 40 writers and hundreds of active participants, but it now commands an average of 500 visitors EVERY DAY.

Today, I am proud to announce that the Incubator has published its 200th article: “Consider these post-grad education options: Part 3”

TalentEgg Career Incubator - 200th post

A huge pat on the shoulder and REALLY high five go out to our irreplaceable Editor, Cassandra Jowett, and the entire Incubator team!

TalentEgg's 1st summer party, and why we're proud to be geeks

Actually, this is the first party we’ve ever officially had at TalentEgg. We never had a launch party, and we didn’t even really celebrate our 1 year anniversary.

You see, we’re all a little bit geeky at TalentEgg. Case in point: As I said, tonight is our summer party, and I’m wearing a shirt that says “I LOVE MATH”.

All wardrobe related jokes aside, it often comes up at TalentEgg that we’re all a little bit nerdy.

Cassandra plays the Sims, Daniel plays World of Warcraft, Ryan and I email each other with business ideas all the time (aka on weekends at 7 in the morning), and Mike & Peter are geeks too, but they’re too new for me to make fun of them this publicly.

And we’re proud to be geeks, and we’re proud of the product we’ve produced through our combined geekiness. Getting your first real job after university requires a serious approach, and a genuine approach.

That’s why everything at TalentEgg is written by a real person (no auto emails or auto updates on our homepage), and why all of our resources in The Incubator are written in the first person.

It’s also why we attract an engaged audience. Students come to TalentEgg when they’re serious about researching and applying for career-starting opportunities. We see it in our stats, and we see it from the reaction of our employer clients.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is that at TalentEgg, it’s cool to be geeky. (that joke was geeky in itself)

More growing pains – we're Dell's biggest customers

I was complaining to Daniel today that we had to order yet another Dell Computer.

Not because they’re breaking, but because the TalentEgg full time staff has somehow swelled to EIGHT people over the past short while!

I’ll be back on Monday to announce two new additions to the team as well as with pictures…specifically of what my dog, Max, did when he met The Sun Guy, and of our new office (!!) and new team (!!!).

Sun Guy on my desk

A few days ago, an unassuming brown package arrived at TalentEgg.

It was addressed to Daniel.

We wondered what it might be – handwritten address on the front, pretty bulky…And Daniel wasn’t expecting anything.

Eagerly, Daniel tore open the envelope and found….

Sun Life’s Facebook Sun Guy! And not just 1, but 10!! Now we all have Sun Guys on our desk, and I must say, he really does brighten up our days.

Thank you Sun Life – you made our day!
