Getting into a top school is a competitive process. In addition to top-tier learning experiences, leading schools offer unique access to industry-leading employers, many of whom have established relationships with in-demand programs and faculties.

Housed in the University of Toronto, the Rotman Commerce program has consistently ranked as one of the top business schools in Canada. With a rich history of excellence and boasting an impressive alumnus cohort, the Rotman Commerce program has shaped the minds of some of the world’s top business leaders.

To celebrate 90 years of excellence in business education, Rotman Commerce has partnered with TalentEgg to sponsor the third annual 2014 TalentEgg Campus Recruitment Excellence Awards and Conference.

On May 14th, Sean MacLure, the Relationship Manger – Finance at the Rotman Commerce Career Centre, will be sharing the success they have had partnering with other organizations who aim to be the best in campus recruitment.

Until then, here’s a sneak peek of what you can expect from their presentation on May 14th:

Why did you decide to become part of the 2014 TalentEgg Campus Recruitment Excellence Conference?

Sean: This year, Rotman Commerce is celebrating 90 years of excellence in business education and we’re thrilled to share our successes with other organizations who are also striving to be the best they can. We work closely with many of the corporate partners who will be attending the TalentEgg conference, so it’s a great opportunity for us to recognize their achievements, while also giving us a chance to connect with career centres from other industries and disciplines.

What are you most looking forward to at the event?

Sean: Hearing about new trends, ideas, and concerns in campus recruiting – the short-presentation format allows us to learn from a variety of experts, so we’ll be able to come back from the conference with a lot of new ideas that will help us improve our employer services and student programming.

What can attendees expect from your presentation?

Sean: We’re looking to show how the world-class liberal arts education and innovative career coaching programs we offer differentiates us from other undergraduate business programs. We’ll also talk about how we can help recruiters identify and connect with top talent early in their recruitment process.

What tips do you have for employers who want to succeed on-campus?

Sean: Every campus and program is different – leverage “insider information” within the career centre to develop the best recruitment strategies to meet your targets and goals. In particular, be present and get involved – job postings and info sessions have a limited effect. The employer brands with the most success on campus are those who strategically choose their touch-points with students.

How do you help employers succeed on-campus?

Sean: By being their main point of contact on-campus, we can provide them with opportunities to connect with targeted students through career centre programming, as well as through our student life, student groups, alumni relations, and academic services portfolios.

What are 3 things that every employer should know about Rotman Commerce students?

Sean: The three things every employer should know about Rotman Commerce students are:

  1. Our students have the full package: they come through a rigorous academic program that focuses on hard business skills coupled with the critical thinking that comes from a strong liberal arts background.
  2. 58% female to 42% male for the most recently admitted class
  3. An extremely diverse student population: our student body holds citizenship from 69 countries around the world.
