The countdown to the TalentEgg Awards and Conference is on!
We’ve been hard at work here at TalentEgg, making sure everything is in order for the main event. At the same time, we want to help our attendees make the most of their time with us. If you’re new to the #TEAwards, you might be asking yourself what you need to do to get ready. Well don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!
Campus recruiters – avoid the last minute ‘scramble’ with these tips for a smooth experience.
Enjoy the chance to network
While we want you to learn as much as you can from our stellar lineup of presentations and panel discussions, a big theme at the TalentEgg Awards and Conference is networking.
Gatherings of the best and brightest professionals in Canadian campus recruitment are not that common, so we want you to have the chance to reconnect with your colleagues and make new connections. Also, it’s not just recruiters who attend the #TEAwards – you’ll get the chance to brush shoulders with career centre administrators, educators, and other members of the larger TalentEgg community.
It’s a great opportunity to think about your own goals for your time at the event. Are you looking to diversify your network? Get feedback on some new ideas? Having a clear cut idea of what you want to take away from the experience will help you ensure you have a fun, and productive day!
Get ready to live-tweet
It would be impossible to meet every attendee at the TalentEgg Awards, but luckily, that’s what social media is for! If you’ll be live-tweeting, be sure to use the #TEAwards hashtag and tag @CampusEmployers so other eventgoers can find your posts. Additionally, it wouldn’t hurt to look up the handles of the speakers in advance so you can tag them in your messages.
And don’t forget to engage with others online as well. Let us all know what you think by retweeting and “liking” relevant posts. And if someone follows you, follow them back so that newly created connection can potentially extend offline as well.
Bring the right gear
We’ll be covering a lot of ground at the 2017 conference, so having the right equipment on hand will help you get the most of the event. For instance, this might be a good time to invest in a portable phone charger so you won’t have to worry about finding an outlet to power your device.
Furthermore, you should also consider downloading some useful apps in advance to help your day run more efficiently. For example, Scannable by Evernote allows you to scan up to 100 business cards per hour and offers a premium version that connects directly to your LinkedIn account. To keep track of your expenses, download Shoeboxed to quickly scan and organize your receipts.
Dress comfortably
It can be a little tricky to figure out what to wear for a conference that ends with an awards event. For the TalentEgg Awards, we suggest you go for business casual, yet comfy since it will be a long day. If you need a little inspiration, check out our photos from last year’s event!
All these tips will help you have an egg-cellent time at the TalentEgg Awards, but our biggest piece of advice? Enjoy! This is your day to learn, network, and have a good time, so don’t worry too much about the little things.
