Part of recruiting Gen Y means developing a solid employer branding strategy that is both unique and memorable.

Paul Peterson took the stage at the 2013 TalentEgg Campus Recruitment Excellence Awards and Conference and delivered a presentation that demonstrated just how effective a strong branding strategy can be.

Paul is the Senior Manager of National Talent Resourcing at Grant Thornton LLP, and his presentation stood out in part by offering some unexpected advice, including:

“Don’t eat yellow snow.”

“Never wear socks with sandals.”

When Freedom 55 Financial noticed that only 1% of their new recruits were from Gen Y, they realized that something had to change.

Signals of potential, the AMS elections and Tyler Turnbull

As I browsed through my Twitter feed yesterday morning, a tweet about my alma mater, Queen’s, came through, and I was compelled to click because it mentioned, a) a Cee-Lo parody, and b) the AMS (student council) elections.

The Twitter link took me to an article called “Who casts the first stone…“, highlighting a hilarious video that Team SDL made as part of their campaign for AMS executive this year. I was very impressed – it’s funny, energetic, and lets you see a very human side of Team SDL.

Meet Virginia, the latest addition to the Egg Carton

TalentEgg recently welcomed a new addition to the team: Virginia Knott, sales rep! (You may have seen her briefly in the April Fool’s joke video from last week.)

Virginia is a recent McMaster grad who actually landed the job here at TalentEgg by using some of the resumé techniques found here on the Career Incubator.

She also has some EGGstraordinary dance moves! She’ll fit in here just fine.
